Glossary of terms you may or may not know.
BJD: Ball Joint Doll/Ball Jointed Doll. Usually refers to the modern ball joint doll movement started by Volks of Japan in 1999.
ABJD: Asian Ball Joint Doll. Usually refers to the Asian ball jointed doll aesthetic and/or dolls from related Asian countries. Refer to BJD entry. Adorabiggle: enormously adorable. More adorable than usual. Term used to denote things that are extra cute. |
Wilton Method: a cake decorating technique started in 1929 by Dewey McKinley Wilton and widely popularized in the mid '40's and 50's that uses various cake frosting tips.
Weft/Wefting: thread or yarn made of spun fiber; in doll wig-making refers to such fibers being sewn together in parallel rows to create long collections of such rows that can be applied to a wig cap or directly to a doll's head by gluing or sewing them into place. Wig Cap: a snug cap made of silicon, fabric or animal skin that fits over a doll's head where the hair-line would fall. Can be used to construct a wig upon or to create a more snug area for a separate wig to sit on. Wig caps can be created from crocheted, molded, or sewn techniques and may even use elastic or stretchy materials in their construction. |
The Pneuma Sphere: the sphere of the spirit and the realm of God. Pneuma refers to the breath of life while the sphere encompasses it all limitlessly.
Faemily: the word 'family' in regards to faerie/fairy family relations. Squeedorable: those adorable things, ideas, places or people that cause one to squee in delight. The term used to denote a thing that causes one to squee. |
Fidelia Firefly Faerie: aka Fidelia's Secret the very first glow in the dark ball joint doll created by Stephan Charles of Charles Creature Cabinet.
Faetograph(s): photograph(s) of faeries/fairies, fae or faekin. The most famous of which are the Cottingley Fairies from the early 1900's. Faekin: faerie/fairy relatives of Fidelia Firefly Faeries. Kin can be larger or smaller creations from other doll sculptors. Faekin are related by the spirit of the collector involved. Non-fae dolls can be faekin. Furmily: the furry animal members of a family and/or household. The designation for any part of a family that is a furred non-human member i.e. dogs, cats, rats etc. Scrundle: a tight, close-knit, joyful hug or embrace comprised of two or more family members. |
